What is Rodnoverie?

Rodnoverie, or Slavic Native Faith, is a modern spiritual movement that turns toward pre-Christian Slavic traditions. It is not a monolithic church, but a vibrant network of groups, individuals, and practices seeking meaning in ancient customs, festivals, symbols, and nature.

The word "Rodnoverie" literally means "faith in the Kin" (Rod) — in the ancestral lineage, in the ancestors, in the Source.

Roots and Reconstruction

Much information about Slavic religion has not survived. Many details were lost because they were transmitted orally. Modern Rodnoverie therefore combines: ethnographic records, folklore, linguistics, archeological finds, comparative mythology, and personal spiritual experience.

Core Themes

  1. Veneration of Nature. Nature is not a resource to be exhausted, but a living, sacred organism.
  2. Honor to the Ancestors. Ancestors are a part of family life. Their memory is maintained through food, fire, and conversation.
  3. The Wheel of the Year. Festivals follow the solstices, equinoxes, sowing, and harvest.
  4. Symbols and Rituals. The Kolovrat, sacrificial fires, prayers to Rod, Perun, Veles, and other deities.

Main Holidays

  • Koleda / Bozhich — winter solstice, the return of the light.
  • Kupalo — summer solstice, fire, water, magic, growth.
  • Maslenica / Masopust — end of winter, remembrance of ancestors, purification.
  • Dziady — autumn, time of meeting with the ancestors, fire, and food.

How to Approach with Respect?

Rodnoverie is not a costume, nor is it a way to be "exotic." If you approach it, do so with respect for its roots, for living traditions, and for the people for whom it is not just an interest, but a life principle.

Vnoria’s Perspective

VNORIA is not a Rodnovery application. We draw from mythology, symbols, and rituals as an artistic and reflective language. If this world calls you deeper, seek out true Rodnovers, ethnographers, and the records that carry this tradition.

And if you are only touching the surface, let it help you hear your own voice.
